I'm making an appetizer that calls for dried mission figs. Can I use dried apricots instead?

the recipe has ricotta cheese, whipping cream, walnuts and dried mission figs. Then all are whipped together and placed on toasted baguette slices. Any suggestions would be helpful.

yes but you still got to soak in wine or water first to plump them up
Reply:For this type of recipe you could use your favorite dried fruit. It's really a matter of personal preference.
Reply:yes, there are lots of recipes out there I read that did substitute other dried fruits in the place of the figs
Reply:I love apricots. I'm not much a fan of figs. I think the appetizer will turn out beautifully with apricots instead of figs. And by the way, have you ever tried marscapone cheese with fruit recipes? It is heavenly!! Good luck and enjoy!
Reply:Yes you may. My wife and I watch the cooking channel all the time; and I noticed that a lot of the profession chefs say that you may substitute similar items. This is the way new recipes are discovered. Your substitution may be better than the original.
Reply:That is the beauty of cooking, you can experiment with the things you cook to see which flavors you like best.you can use what ever type of dried fruit you like or even extracts
Reply:Sure, why not, just treat the dried apricots the same way as the recipe calls for on the dried figs
