What do apricots taste like?

I know this sounds really dumb, but I've never tasted an apricot before. Apparently this flavor is so universally known that even a Google search yields no clues. They're out of season right now, so I can't try one for myself, and I have a feeling that dried ones will taste very different from fresh. Can anyone tell me what they taste like?

Sweet and good. A dried one soaked will give you an idea.
Reply:first poster has right idea, soak a dried one...or for taste only simply go to the grocery store and get a jar of baby food apricots. They have no sugar added or anything so the taste is dead on, texture will be very different though
Reply:A little thicker and heavier tasting than a peach. I loved apricots as a child until I ate so many that I got sick. Haven't had another one since. However, there are many recipes for baked apricots. At any rate, it is a fruit and good for you. Just try the dried ones and see if you like. I prefer peaches though.
