What's the best way to clean Silver Plated dinning items?

I just bought a silver plated cake stand and I will de filling it with cakes, dates and dried apricots for Xmas. After use, what is the best way to wash it so that it maintains its shine and does not turn black?

What's the best way to clean Silver Plated dinning items?
It will turn black if you don't polish it once every 3 months if you put it in china cabinet or on display.

Wrights Silver Polish is not expensive! It can be used on other metal items as well.

When washing Silver items, wash in warm soapy water, NEVER USE CHLORINE BLEACH, Rinse in hot water, dry on soft fabric like a Tshirt fabric. Dry well, do not touch the surface. Set in the cabinet or get one of those Pacific Cloths to wrap it in. Get these at the jewelry stores!
Reply:Silver cleaner with a soft cloth.
Reply:Wash it with water and soap, but make sure you dry it completely, don't let it air dry.
Reply:tooth paste
Reply:first wipe all the stuff on it. then put oil on it and clean. then finally take a wet towel (not too wet) and clean it. Your done!
Reply:isnt ther silver polishing stuff you can get to maintain the shine??? im not really sure sorry Lo!!! xx
Reply:You can use a mild soap and rinse with warm water. The tarnishing happens when the item is exposed to air, so storage is the key. Felt bags are the best, but you can also wrap it in a towel.
