Which is the most effective exfoliant?

I've been using St. Ives apricot scrub for a few years now, and my skin looks great. However, I've also seen ads for home microdermabrasion systems and various products with either retinol or alpha hydroxy acids. Do all of these products pretty much produce the same results, or are some exfoliants better than others? Explain.

Which is the most effective exfoliant?
St. Ives and any other exfoliant with "grains" are mechanical, meaning they need to be rubbed in. They do have good results. for more drastic results you would go with a chemical exfoliant, which does not require rubbing. (this would be retinol, any alpha hydroxy etc.), these would not be used as often as a mechaincal which can be used every day. BE careful with chemicals though if you have sensitive skin. Be sure and ask a professional before you use any of them.

hope that helped!
Reply:i use st. ives apricot scrub too. it works great. basically, all exfoliants have the same effect. the key lies in actually selecting the right one. over exfoliation is very harmful and can ruin you skin, and so can exfoliating creams that have harsh chemicals. so if you know that st. ives works for you, stick to it.
Reply:you're fine with st. ives apricot scrub.
