What to do about concealer/foundation that flakes?

I'm using well known brands like Clinique but every time I put on concealer, it makes my skin look scaly, dry, and flaky. Keep in mind, I put on sufficient moisturizer before applying makeup and this happens with products that are new too. I also tried using the St Ives Apricot Face scrub but that didn't help. What could the problem be? This happens with all the products i've tried. What do you recommend? Thanks

Your face is probably too dry.You need to use a facial scrub and a heavy moisturizer.Switch your make up to a cream based makeup like from estee lauder. If it does not work you may have a mild case of psoriasis and using some mild steroid based ointment with your night moisturiser should help.
Reply:buy a new one.. its not workin
Reply:Hmmm so just the concealer makes you flakey?

Maybe try a different concealer. I use mineral concealer and foundation from LAminerals. They blend beautifully together.

I would not use the mineral concealer with a liquid or cream though.
Reply:Well, you certainly are doing all the right things at home, maybe try getting a facial at a reputable salon in your area. Your skin may be dry from the winter weather. A facial or two would help.
Reply:HI! Well I realized after having read your plea that you moisturize before applying makeup, which is good, but that you use Apricot Facial Scrub as well. This scrub can be particularly harsh and should only be used once or twice a week in the winter and with more frequency during the summer. I dont know what kind of skin u have, but use a cleanser that can work with your skin type.

Oily/Combo: I use: Neutrogena Acne Stress Control, Power Foam Wash. Its got just the right amount of salicylic acid in it that it wont over dry your skin. http://www.nextag.com/554925404p/zz2zB4z...

Dry skin:Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser . It works really well for sensitive dry skin. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a...

And in terms of the concealer, Maybe your skin is allergic to cosmetic foundation. Even if it is Cilinique Or Estee Lauder, sometimes your skin will reject it. They are probably loaded with harsh chemicals. Sephora has a wonderful line of products through Urban Decay, a brand I can swear by, that doesn't test on animals and they dont have crazy ingredients. try this Mineral Makeup:

If all fails, maybe you should see a dermatologist.

Good luck and let me know how it goes. ;)
Reply:Its dry excema or dry skin, I used to have it (Its awful, I know how you feel) try E45 that really works, its the answer to this question I love it! I apply it at night on my face and before I put my make-up on!

It made my make-up go flakey too.

Hope that helped! x
Reply:this happened to me too with concerler. so i bought the bare essentuals concerler instead. and i prime my face first and that seems to help. so go to a bare escentuals counter, or in sephora and ask them to help you find what you need
