Raw apricot seeds and cancer?
yes i have heard it

and i have researched it

and it it yes indeed a FACT

but the hospitals and meds wont use them because then people will stop going to hospitals and paying for treatments and the government is tooooooo worried about not getting peoples money that they made it illegal for doctors to share this info or purscribe it

:D
Reply:What you have heard is considered 'magical thinking'. People believe in all these conspiracy theories and the magic of a simple 'cure' . . despite all scientific evidence to the contrary. In this instance a belief like this could end up killing you before the cancer does. Report It
Reply:You should believe "nothing you hear and only half of what you read", as someone far smarter than me once said.

Think about it, if you could cure cancer by eating apricot seeds, would ANYONE who is a doctor, nurse, hospital worker, health insurance salesperson, etc.,etc, EVER die of cancer? Of course not, because they would share this "secret" information with each other to keep their empire going!

These folks die at the same rate as everyone else from various cancers (unfortunately), but they DON'T die at as high a rate as cancer patients who use "miracle cures" instead of medicine.

Even Steve McQueen was suckered into thinking "laetrile" could help him... but it didn't.
Reply:Hi. A three year, lung cancer survivor checking in.

I have never heard of Apricot seeds curing anyone of anything. While they may add vitamins and nutrients to a diet, I would not count on them to cure anything as savage as cancer. Please, I beg you, if you know of anyone diagnosed with this horrific disease, council them to follow a Dr's. advice. Do NOT feed into pipe dreams of a wonder cure! Remember this disease kills the majority of people it touches! More people are surviving than ever before, but this is because of research, not rumor!
Reply:No clinical or scientific evidence exists that raw apricot seeds have ever cured anyone from cancer.

Those who make such claims can never provide any conclusive evidence.

It really would not be that difficult to provide evidence since all anyone need do gather enough cancer patients together and test it out. Since tumors are measurable disease that grows or shrinks depending on the treatment one receives . . just measure using a CT or other diagnostic or just feel the tumor through the skin . . try out the apricot seeds and if they shrink the tumors they work . . if the tumors continue to grow than they don't work. Wouldn't you think that if apricot seeds cured cancer someone would take a bunch of them to some of these third world countries where cancer is epidemic and offer to cure these people?

Incidentally, you should be aware that apricot seeds main ingredient is cyanide . . so people who have overdosed on the seeds sometimes end up with cyanide poisoning.

"Cyanide Poisoning From Apricot Kernels

NEW YORK, Dec 09 (Reuters Health) -- Apricot kernels, marketed as a "health food," can cause potentially fatal cyanide poisoning, according to a report in the December issue of the Annals of Emergency Medicine.

The report describes the case of a 41-year-old woman who began to have difficulty breathing shortly after chewing about 30 apricot kernels. After being rushed to the emergency room and diagnosed with cyanide poisoning, the woman was treated with cyanide antidote and other medications, and recovered.

"This is the first reported case of cyanide toxicity from apricot kernel ingestion in the United States since 1979," Dr. Jeffrey R. Suchard and colleagues at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, state.

There were five cases of cyanide poisoning from apricot kernels in the US in the 1970s, the researchers note. At the time, advocates of alternative remedies were touting the drug laetrile as a cancer treatment. Reports that apricot kernels contained an active ingredient in laetrile probably led to the five poisonings, Suchard and colleagues suggest.

"The continuing sale of apricot kernels as health food is troubling," they add. "We believe this to be a remnant of 'magical thinking' related to the inappropriate use of laetrile as a cancer treatment."

"Apricot kernels have been described as 'little cyanide pellets,'" the researchers add. While the kernels do not release much cyanide when swallowed whole, chewing or grinding increases their toxicity.

From estimates of average cyanide concentrations in apricot kernels and the average lethal dose of the poison, the researchers estimate that "the 8-ounce bag of apricot kernels purchased by the patient could kill up to 6 adults if consumed at one sitting."

Given the popularity of natural remedies, Suchard and colleagues suggest that "regulatory action be taken" to prevent similar poisonings in the future.

Reply:Well, for starters; there is no documented scientific evidence that this product has ever worked for any cancer patients. Studies that have been conducted indicate that it doesn't have any adverse effect on tumours and they in fact continue to grow.

Raw apricot seeds, Laetrile, Amygdalin Vitamin B-17!! Well let us just call it by what it really is and that is Cyanide! As there is no such thing as vitamin B-17, it is just a friendly name for Cyanide, as I'm sure people would more easily take a vitamin, as opposed to Cyanide.

However, I believe that there was one case that claimed success with this treatment. but as with many of these quack remedies it was not scientifically monitored or fully documented. Consider the many thousands of people that are treated and saved using proven medicine and treatment, I guess you need to ask yourself are you "feeling lucky" to eat Apricot kernels (Cyanide) on the chance that it may cure and that you may be the second successful case?

Sorry to say there are all too many claims floating around of such miraculous undocumented or scientifically verifiable treatments, which prey on those in need the most!

So, if the Cyanide doesn't kill you, then the untreated cancer probably will!
