How do I exfoliate without making my skin so red?

First off Id like to say that Im a guy.....Its just about that time when i need to exfoliate, I use some swiss apricot cream....and then a blackhead scrub afterwards. I do this every like 3-4 days. How can I reduce the redness that I get after exfoliating my skin. I usually do it at night time to give it time to relax. Another question, what can i do prior to exfoliating to really open up my pores? Any help would......well help! haha thanks guys. or girls... =D

How do I exfoliate without making my skin so red?
try using a different product, I use the exfoiliation from bee-luscious cosmetcis and the hydrating cream concentrate and my face is so soft and never red. Also you can use a little steram from just the shower then follow the routine thats what I do when I come home from work. you can view it on beeroyalproducts.com good luck
Reply:An SOS pad is not intended for exfoliating, at least not on the face.
Reply:Don't exfoliate every day, do it every few days or something like that. Be more gentle when you scrub, and don't scrub for long periods of time! You can take a shower or put a warm washcloth over your face to open up your pores. Goodluck!
Reply:exoliate every 11 days, dis is how often our skin is renewed, moisturise each night and make sure your using the right exfoliator for your skin, and also make sure u arnt scrubbing too hard that cud def cause redness! or you might be allergic to one of the creams?
Reply:I agree that the apricot scrub is too harsh. It's gotten to where I'm afraid of anything that's sold at the 'marts!

I've recently started on the "Philosophy" cleaners, etc. with great results %26amp; the microderm abrasion they have is super gentle. Yes, it's an investment, but worth it.

My face looks so much clearer %26amp; brighter that my husband started using them too. He's an actor and "in the spotlight."

Good luck.
Reply:To exfoliate i suggest: Artistry? Polishing Scrub

Skin feels soft and perfectly polished with this effective exfoliator. The light foaming scrub with jojoba beads gently sloughs off dead skin cells, and accelerates your natural exfoliating process

To open up you pores use the Artistry? Pore Cleansing Masque before the scrub. It thoroughly cleanses and refreshes your skin with this oil-free mineral clay masque. It opens pores and draws out excess oil to help control oil and shine.

Use the scrub and masque 1-2 time per week. For daily maintenance use Tolsom? Skin Care for Men, proven to improve skin smoothness, fine lines, and clarity. Tolsom is the only men’s skin care line with the exclusive T-10 Complex that delivers high performance results in 4 weeks.
Reply:Well, first of all... you really only need to exfoliate 1-2 times a week. you can't really reduce the redness so just do it before you go to sleep so that the redness is gone by morning. To open up your pores, get a really warm washcloth and lay it on your face for a few moments. Warm water expands your pores and cold water closes them. It also helps to wash your face with cold water when you are finished exfoliating to close your pores so that it is harder for them to get clogged!

Hope this helps!
Reply:Try Olay Regnerist scrub. It is more gentle than that apricot scrub, but REALLY effective. Tinier scrubbers smooth your face so much better than that grainy apricot stuff. I know, I used to do it. It heats up too. Very nice. I use it and love it so much. I am alot less red than I used to get. Good luck!

Reply:First off, the apricot scrub is horrible! I have sensitive skin and it seems you do too. That stuff ALWAYS turns me red. It is too harsh for your skin. You should only exfoliate once a week or every two weeks. I work at a day spa and we use a salt scrub and a sugar scrub. The sugar scrub would be really good for you. It is not as harsh on your skin and it does not take out all the moisture in your skin, like a salt scrub does. Then when you are done with the scrub put a algie oil on your skin. Really, you should go to a day spa near your home twice a month and get a sugar scrub, they will also have the products there you can buy so you know you are using the right thing
Reply:I second -stop using the apricot scrub. It's just too harsh and your skin probably thinks so too! Try using a cream wash instead of a foaming one and put some baking soda in your hand. It won't turn your face as red and it's really gentle.
