i heard its good for getting rid of dead skin cells but but for some reason the first time i used it my face seemed really dry and it was dryer than it was before. is there a proper way of using it or is it not right for my skin? if its not right for me to use can you suggest any other exfoliants i can use? (my skin is really sensative)
How do i use st ives exfoliant apricot scrub?
St Ives is great to used but it can be harsh on some skin types. The granules in st. Ives is to hard and rough on sensitive. Try Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub. Its great to use everyday and wont clog pores. Just use the scrub in circular motion and it should be fine.
Reply:I love St Ives Apricot Scrub. Maybe can't live without it :-) :-)
I know a lot of people say the original product is way too harsh and too drying for their skin.
I live in Melbourne, Aus - St Ives also has an Apricot Scrub for sensitive skin over here. I tried it and I personally prefer the original version. But maybe this "sensitive version" is the go for you?
Reply:I would advise anyone to NOT use that product. It says it's natural, and that's true. However, it's made with the shells of fruits, which actually damage the surface of your skin, leaving you with tiny scratches all over your face.
Other exfoliants are just fine. They're normally made with jojoba or wax beads, which do NOT ruin your skin.
There have been many researches and diagnostic studies done that prove this product to be damaging to your skin.
Try adding sugar or salt to your current cleanser if you don't want to go out and get another one. I would recommend ANY exfoliating cleanser, except St. Ives.
Reply:that one didnt work on me...in fact it affected my skin...pls be careful with St ives products they tend to irritate skin
Reply:The apricot scrub is not great for sensitive skin because the exfoliant is pretty rough. Try looking for an exfoliating product from Aveeno or Cetaphil, which are both good for sensitive skin. They may cost a little more, but it is worth it to make sure you are not aggravating the skin on your face!
Reply:I use the gentler one and I use the tiniest amount, like once a week at most to give me that glow. However, I find it can cause breakouts. So if I am breaking out that week, I don't use. I would also like to recomment their mask (the blue one). It is my face's lifesaver and I use this at least once a week. I used it today, and if I hadn't I would have looked haggard like I did yesterday, at the end of the week.
