Does anyone know how to make apricot brandy from scratch?
CHEATERS BRANDY!

If you are willing to cheat then here's what you do. First go to the liquor store and buy an inexpensive brandy( this doesn't mean crap) just a off brand name. Second go to the big store in town that has the bulk items- look for the dried apricots and buy them. When you get them home soak them in brandy over night then pour off most of the brandy, mash the apricots and warm the brandy on the stove very gently as not to flambe' your kitchen. Take two clean empty mason jars divide the pulp between the two and add all the brandy, seal the jars and place in a cool dark cupboard for at least two weeks, longer is better. Strain the contents through a sieve and then cheese cloth and re-bottle brandy. Enjoy.
Reply:you have to ferment the apricots then run it in a still then let is sit on chaired white oak for a few months .. running a still can get you busted if you in the US.....any brandy is a wine that's been run in a still the word brandy comes from a dutch word that means burnt wine....when you use vodka thats a schnapps
Reply:Note:Use only fully ripened, unblemished fruit. Cooking time = fermenting time

Makes 1 quart

4 cups fresh apricots, washed, pitted and mashed

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup honey

750 ml vodka or brandy

Use only fully ripened, unblemished fruit.

Wash and remove pits.

Chop and mash fruit.

Place in a plastic container or large glass bottle.

Your fruit brandy is ready to drink!
