Is St. Ives Apricot Scrub harmful....?

I have really bad acne and people have recommended St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I finally bought some but I've read somewhere that scrubbing and being rough with your acne will only make it worse.

Please help me, does St. Ives Apricot Scrub do more harm than good with bad acne?

I've heard it going both ways about whether it makes acne better or worse. And I think it depends on what type of acne you have.

Really hard scrubbing more than once a day that irritates the skin is problematic. But if you only do it a few times a week, and gently, then it should be fine.

I have used it for a while and while it never cured (or even improved, as far as I know) my acne, I do like my skin better when I use it. I stopped using it for a while and I had skin problems, then again it was mostly dry skin so if you don't get that you might not need it.

To fix your acne, chances are you would need more than this scrub. I strongly suggest seeing a doctor, I put it off for years and tried just about everything over the counter which only worked in a limited way or not at all, finally got some prescriptions and noticing a real difference so far.
Reply:if you use it correctly, it is not harmful. don't use it every day, it is an exfoliant. Use it once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells. don't use it if your skin is or becomes red and irritated. I use it once a week. and use it gently, don't scrub the heck out of your face. :)
Reply:no. its great. the scub stimulates more skin cells. Just dont scrub over existing pimples as it could damage the already broken skin.
Reply:If you have bad acne, the apricot scrub probably would do more damage than good for your skin. Your skin is probably already inflamed, and exfoliating would only make it worse. I would recommend using an acne product with sacylic acid, which is more effective on acne prone skin. Your best bet would be to go to a dermatologist who could prescribe you a more aggressive treatment.
