How do you stop your skin from shining so much?(will give 10 points to a really good answer)?

i dont have red acne but my skin looks really oily and greasy especially on my forehead, nose and chin. i use an apricot scrub. and dont suggest proactive (it doesnt work on my face) so deos anyone have any good suggestions please.

How do you stop your skin from shining so much?(will give 10 points to a really good answer)?
dont use apricot scrub!!!! its wayyy too abrasive and i went to aesthetician school and they told me its horrible for your skin and actually causes oily skin.

only exfoliate with a scrub 2 or 3 times a week! make sure your exfoliater is separate from your cleanser so that you can use a cream cleanser every day and your exfoliater 2 or 3 times a week.

also, look for an oil controlling moisturizer to put on after you cleanse your skin.

heres a tip:

(this might sound weird but it works, i swear!!!)

next time you go to a store, go to the bathroom and see if they have toilet seat covers (the ones that look like wax paper). grab a bunch and bring them home and cut into rectangles... they absorb the oil off your face, its amazing. its the same as using the oiling absorbing sheets from the store (they are made from the same material) but they are free!

try this and let me know what you think :)
Reply:there are several products that help control oil.

Bliss- Instant mattification

Origins- Zero oil

Origins- Matte Scientist

Cosmedicine- Medi-Matte oil control lotion

I could go on but you get the idea. There are also several lines that carry an oil blotting paper.

Try to find a line a products that work together (kit) and works for your skin. There are several drugstore brands as well as ones that are a bit more pricey (murad, peter thomas roth, etc.) Good Luck.
Reply:I use baby powder. After taking a shower I always use baby powder. Not only does my skin not shine but you also get the feeling of being dryer than as if you just throw your clothes on after showering. So I would suggest baby powder. Or any type of powder, they make other types of powder for men and women in the fragrance section of most stores. If that does not work for you try looking at special soaps that are made for oily skin and I suggest the oatmeal type soaps, they may cost you a bit more but they are worth it if it helps you with self confidence and self esteem. Good Luck
Reply:i use apricot scrub too i love it!! I've recently started using lemon juice with a cotton ball once daily and my face looks great, very minimal oil if any and no more acne. Vitamin C,obviously in lemons, is very beneficial for your skin too. Also, always use a powder not a liquid foundation
Reply:a way to get rid of oils is by taking a square of toilet paper, split it in half so that its thinner and rub it all on your face. I've done it and it works like a charm.
Reply:Benefit has a balm that will give you a matted finish. It goes on clear stays clear. The name is Dr Feel Good. Don't look at it as makeup, look at it as "face screen". They have mini samples so you can try it before you buy it. It's lasts a long time. Smooth some on in the morning you should be good to go. Other than that try blotting strips. If you use something to dry the skin (astringent) it may just work up more oil.
Reply:I too have oily skin and I have had great results with Arbonne's Basic Intelligence line for the face. What is so great about this product is it is self adjusting and maintains the pH level of your skin (which is important because if you're skin is not balanced, in your case it will overcompensate and produce more oil, which is not what you want.)

You can also try Arbonne's Clear Advantage system, which is a gel based cleanser, toner and lotion, as well as an herbal supplement which targets acne from the inside.

Since you did not mention cystic acne, I would go for the Basic Intelligence.

I have been using these products now for over a year and am quit pleased with how my skin looks and feels. I think that when we have oily skin we think scrubbing and drying products will help, when actually, they can have the reverse effect.

If you opt to try either of these, I'd be interested in hearing your results too.

You can find both these products at

:

www.healthNwellness.myarbonne.com under "Shop Online" Basic Intelligence (for face.)
Reply:my answer is clean and clear blackhead clearing it lasts a long time and it removes all oil and dirt removes deeply for clearer skin i use it it works very well it has 1 % salicylic acid in it you can get a stronger like 2 % in other products like avon clearskin pads. Make sure the stuff has salicylic acid in it, and check the percent.
Reply:Hard to tell without actually looking at your skin in person, but this may help: http://www.marketamerica.com/pulse99/ind...

It does sound like there's more going on thatn just oily skin. It sounds like your pores are enlarged and that has to have another underlying cause. You may need an exfoliator and a microdermal moisturizer that replenishes that you're skin is missing as well as some type of diet change. As a dietary supplement, this beauty formula might be helpful. http://www.marketamerica.com/pulse99/ind... And it's fairly inexpensive. Try it for three months and if it helps, continue using it.
Reply:Oil blotting papers.
Reply:Purina has a dog food made specifically for indoor dogs. Trust me, it works. You'll have a healthy, new coat in a month. And it helps with itchy skin too.
Reply:Ok, well you could try oil blotting paper. With this apricot scrub i am assuming you use it everyday and its an exfoliant. Because you are exfoliating so much you face gets the idea that you need more oil so it produces more to keep up with all that scrubbing.

What i suggest is only using a scrub 1-2 times a week and use a gentle oil and frangrance free cleanser.

Hope i have helped !!!
