I just bought a toy Poodle. Can they drastically change colour in the early stages of life?

I specifically asked for a WHITE Toy Poodle. I got Pictures of him weekly until he was 5 weeks old and he WAS white. I just got him and he is apricot. The Pics I received he had slightly cream ears, but now he is apricot all over. Is this Possible? or did I get sent the wrong Pup?.

It does happen to many dog breeds. Blacks turn gray, some lighten and some get a ticking or stippling of a darker tone on the ends of their hair. Does your dog have an agouti gene? Look at the hair itself. Is it a different color on the end than it is near the skin? If so, he did get darker as he matured.
Reply:That is exactly what you get when you don't go to look at a pup in person, only rely on pictures and then don't pick it up yourself. Next time go look yourself!
Reply:you bought a dog from a puppymiller
Reply:ussually poodles may lighten in color, not darken. You may have been sent the wrong poodle... this is surprisingly common when you order from a breeder/broker online.
Reply:I hate to say it but I don't think you were sent the wrong dog. You chose a apricot puppy.

Yes they do change like that and a WHITE poodle would be white not have apricot ears.

If you did research you would have known that often a light apricot will be born white and change. I do believe you got teh puppy that you chose. This is the probelm of pups that are "ordered" and you don't go meet the pup,it's parent(s), the breeder, and the conditions it's raised,

I do hope if the pup has papers ou can register it as the color it should be.
Reply:Probably not the same pup! They change so much from when they are new born. Color changes also.

If you'd asked for white than you didn't get it. A white poodle would not have had darker ears right from the get go.

White is white with no variations in it.

Sorry made a mistake!
